2B from Nier Automata.
I have been attempting to play through Square/Enix’s Nier Automata (2017) .
The game is very strange and unique.
I have got through the first ‘playthrough’ aka ‘stage’, which I really, REALLY enjoyed, as it was from 2B’s perspective, with tons of combat.
The second ‘stage’ is through the perspective of 2B’s companion, the android ‘9S’, and involves little combat and a ton of hacking.
The ‘hacking’ is implemented via a very basic space invaders/asteroids type game, which is really not very satisfying at all, compared to the complex and fun combat of the first stage.
I am therefore not very keen on pushing forward with this game.
I have read this Steam community discussion which effectively highlights the same problems, and just says ‘get through it’.
But it is difficult with so many games on my backlog to actually sit down and play asteroids for hundreds of combats!
